Advocacy
HIAS Washington D.C.

HIAS' Washington office plays a crucial role in implementing the agency's refugee and immigrant protection agenda. This work involves both special concern for Jewish migrants, as well as application of Jewish values in the broader immigrant and refugee policy arena.

HIAS' Washington D.C. office educates and advocates HIAS' positions to Washington policy makers, focusing on Congressional leaders from the immigration, international affairs and appropriations committees, the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, the Office of Refugee Resettlement of the Department of Health and Human Services, the National Security Council, the Domestic Policy Council, and other administrative offices. HIAS Washington D.C. also participates actively in Jewish and non-Jewish coalitions concerned with immigration and refugee affairs and related concerns to develop and implement advocacy strategies.
