Alexis Ortiz has been an active member of HIAS Young Leaders for the last 4 years—both in Washington, D.C. and New York City. She has attended several HIAS Advocacy Missions, helped to expand cultural exchange programming between HIAS and the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), and played a major role in the planning and implementation of the HIAS Regina Spektor Concert in February 2012.
Alexis currently is Associate Manager at CAMI Music, where she works with a roster of world music, jazz, and classical artists. She has been active in the field of international arts management for nearly ten years, working with the National Endowment for the Arts, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the U.S. State Department, and the Kennedy Center; she has produced concerts at the White House, Library of Congress, and numerous embassies.
Outside of the arts field, Alexis has worked on several youth development programs, such as overseeing a summer residential global affairs program for high school students in Washington, D.C. and leading several AJWS service-learning trips to Mexico and Central America. She holds a BA in Political Science and Latin American Studies from Yale University and an MA in International Administration, with a concentration in Culture and Development, from the University of Miami.
