Benita Fair Langsdorf

Benita Fair Langsdorf, of Philadelphia, PA, joined the HIAS board in June 2008. She is Senior Counsel, Managed Care, for Independence Blue Cross, where her practice includes a broad range of representation involving complex legal projects and effective counsel and support to business clients.
She has long been active in HIAS of Philadelphia and was its president from June 2001 until June 2004. In addition, she was a long-term member of the Women’s Leadership Board of the Jewish Federation of Philadelphia and a member of the Philadelphia Society Hill Civic Association Zoning and Historical Committee.
Benita is a graduate of Cornell University, with a Masters of Education from Temple University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Widener University School of Law. She is an active alumna of Cornell and has served as Chairperson of the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network.
She has traveled extensively, visiting Jewish communities wherever she goes. In her most recent trip to China, she located the former site of the HIAS office in Shanghai; the office had assisted in the dispersion of the Jewish population from the Shanghai Ghetto following WWII.
