Affiliate Partnerships & How You Can Help
HIAS currently works with 30 agencies around the United States. These agencies provide direct services and support refugees.
Most of our affiliate agencies are connected with the local Jewish Community in the area, including many that are run through Jewish Family Service Agencies. All of our agencies work with the R&P Program and most work with Matching Grant. All of our affiliates provide services above and beyond those dictated by these programs, including, in many cases, providing free ESL and vocational training, creating cultural immersion lessons, and special programs for women and children.
Our national agencies are always looking for dedicated volunteers to take part in the refugee resettlement process. Volunteers play a key role in the process of refugees establishing new lives in the United States.
Some ways you can help:
Teach English at an ESL Class.
Drive refugees to doctor appointments and job interviews.
Help write and edit resumes and employment applications.
Work on immersion activities with refugee families. This could include going food shopping, to a park, a movie theater or a mall with a refugee.
Assist refugee children with schoolwork.
Donate goods and materials to refugees in your area. New or gently used furniture, beds, cooking utensils, clothing, shoes, and other everyday items are always appreciated by our affiliates.
