Information Technology Assistant
The information technology assistant will report to the Director of Management Information Services (MIS) and provide technical assistance to the director and HIAS staff. This is a part-time position, with no more than 15 hours per week, and does not include benefits.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate and install PC hardware and peripheral devices.
- Load specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, email, database applications, desktop publishing, etc.
- Update documentation to record new equipment installations, new locations, and changes to computer configurations
- Respond to common inquiries and/or issues from staff and provide technical assistance as needed
- Assist in Help Desk functions
- Oversee backup tape operations
- Maintain security system
- Available for emergency outage resolution with flexible hours of work
- Perform other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in IT-related degree preferred; will consider candidate for BA/BS
- Working knowledge of a variety of hardware and software, including Dell PCs and various other laptop brands running on Windows 7 and Windows 8
- Ability to replace toners in HP and other printers essential
- Software skills should include Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office 2010
- Must speak, read, and write English fluently
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals
- Must be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, and maintain confidentiality of information and systems
- Ability to handle or lift PC desktop towers and monitors
