Information Technology Assistant

The information technology assistant will report to the Director of Management Information Services (MIS) and provide technical assistance to the director and HIAS staff. This is a part-time position, with no more than 15 hours per week, and does not include benefits.


Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and install PC hardware and peripheral devices.
  • Load specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, email, database applications, desktop publishing, etc.
  • Update documentation to record new equipment installations, new locations, and changes to computer configurations
  • Respond to common inquiries and/or issues from staff and provide technical assistance as needed
  • Assist in Help Desk functions
  • Oversee backup tape operations
  • Maintain security system
  • Available for emergency outage resolution with flexible hours of work
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned

 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in IT-related degree preferred; will consider candidate for BA/BS
  • Working knowledge of a variety of hardware and software, including Dell PCs and various other laptop brands running on Windows 7 and Windows 8
  • Ability to replace toners in HP and other printers essential
  • Software skills should include Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office 2010
  • Must speak, read, and write English fluently
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals
  • Must be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, and maintain confidentiality of information and systems
  • Ability to handle or lift PC desktop towers and monitors
