Jenny Fernandez is a HIAS fall intern working on Refugee and Asylum policy in the Washington, D.C. office. Jenny, a born traveler, was born in Chicago and raised in both Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Throughout the years, she has expanded her destinations to Madrid and Budapest. In high school, Jenny enjoyed playing the violin and was fortunate to be able to perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
A junior at American University, Jenny is double-majoring in International Relations and Business Administration. She is an Ambassador (American’s fancy way of saying tour-guide) and interned this past year on Capitol Hill for both her Representative and Senator. A proud Juban (Jewish Cuban), Jenny aspires to work for the State Department and hopes to one day volunteer with the Peace Corps.
