Alter Kaczyne never emigrated from his home in Poland, where his life tragically ended during the Holocaust. He did, however, leave a lasting record of shtetl life through the hundreds of intimate, stunning photographs sent to HIAS and the Forverts throughout the 1920s and 1930s. (1885-1941)
