Manager, Young Leadership Development
HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, the oldest international refugee serving agency in the U.S., seeks a full-time Manager, Young Leadership Development to mobilize a local and national base of HIAS next generation supporters and to manage the day-to-day operations of programs within the Young Leadership department.
The Manager, Young Leadership Development will play a key role in expanding the organization’s capacity to develop a robust national community of young Jewish adults to be lifelong HIAS supporters and activists/ambassadors on immigration issues. He/she will oversee the day to day operations of the Young Leadership department. The Manager will develop and implement an interactive communications strategy to build engagement and community. To complement the online strategy, the Manager will build programs enhanced by collateral materials (e.g., advocacy toolkits and discussion guides on immigration topics) that can be replicated for interested young Jewish professionals and students around the country. He/she also will participate in generating resources to support Young Leadership activities. The Manager also will spearhead the New York Young Leadership chapter by planning and implementing various programs including, but not limited to, events, meetings, and advocacy initiatives.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently while under supervision; proven success in program development and volunteer management, especially in establishing volunteer groups from the ground up; a minimum of three years experience, preferably in a young leadership setting; experience supervising staff; the ability to collaborate with local and national partners; a high level of computer proficiency, especially with social media applications; excellent communications, organizational, and interpersonal skills; a high level of cultural sensitivity; and the ability to attend evening and weekend meetings/events.
