Roberta Elliott

VP, Media & Communications

Roberta Elliott is HIAS’ Vice President, Media & Communications. For nearly 30 years, she has worked in the Jewish community, five of them spent in Israel, where she was a journalist, and another five as features editor of the New York Jewish Week. From 1989 to 1993, she was Director of Public Affairs at HIAS. Before returning to HIAS in January, 2008, she served as the National Public Affairs Director of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America; communications director of ORT America; and as managing director of the Israel Policy Forum.

Ms. Elliott is active in professional associations, including serving on the board of the American Jewish Press Association. In her home community of Metrowest, NJ, she is a member of the Jewish Women’s Foundation and secretary of Bnai Keshet Reconstructionist Synagogue of Montclair, where she is active in all aspects of congregational life. Ms. Elliott graduated cum laude with distinction from The Ohio State University in Latin, and holds an MA from the same institution in Latin and Roman Civilization. In 2007, she received an Alumni Award of Distinction from OSU’s College of Humanities.
