Valentin Povarchuk is an associate in the international trade group at Arent Fox. His practice includes Customs, export control, sanctions, and anti-boycott matters, as well as trade litigation and international arbitration. Valentin’s work has also included advising the Inter-American Development Bank. Prior to Arent Fox, he worked in the trade group of a large international law firm, where his practice included World Trade Organization policy and litigation, as well as export controls, Customs and other international trade matters.
Valentin graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University in 2000, and received his JD from the University of Washington School of Law in 2005. During college, Valentin spent a year studying international law in Geneva, Switzerland, and working at the United Nations International Labour Organization. While in law school, Valentin served as Editor-In-Chief of the Pacific Rim Law & Policy Journal. He also spent a semester studying European and international trade law at Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium, as a recipient of the COMFED fellowship.
Valentin Povarchuk was born in Odessa, Ukraine and came to the United States with the help of HIAS. He lives in Falls Church, VA with his wife and young son.
