On January 30th, HIAS and the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) presented "The Status of Religious Freedom in Iran and the US Response." Mark Hetfield, HIAS' President and CEO, discussed the need to renew the Lautenberg Amendment, a provision that allows Jews, Christians, Baha'is, and other religious minorities to safely leave the country.
