Friends of U.S., Terrorists in Eyes of Law

The New York Times discusses the group of refugees and asylum seekers deemed either terrorists or having provided "material support" to terrorist groups based on a section of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which defines a terrorist group as any organization with two or more people that has engaged in violent activities against persons or property. Since the law makes no distinction for groups that the United States views favorably, even people who have aided U.S. troops in Iraq currently are ineligible to live here.
