Listen to Rabbi Jennie Rosenn on WNYC's The Takeaway

Rabbi Jennie Rosenn, vice president for community engagement at HIAS, appeared on The Takeaway with John Hockenberry to discuss the surge in nationalist and anti-Muslim rhetoric in the wake of the Paris and San Bernardino attacks.

"I think there is absolutely a sense of growing darkness," Rabbi Rosenn said. "Tonight is the fouth night of Hanukkah, and Hanukkah is a story, and a holiday, about light overtaking darkness and feeling like the forces of darkness are gathering strength. And yet its also a holiday about increasing light, and each night we add a candle to add to the light that we are building."
