An Open Letter to the Community from HIAS

The outpouring of love and support that we have received in recent days means a great deal to all of us at HIAS. We know emotions are still raw and the need to process is ongoing. HIAS grieves for the victims, their families, Jewish Family and Community Services (JFCS) and our other friends and partners in Pittsburgh; we hope the healing can begin soon.

Our mission is to stay the course and continue our work. We help people who are in need; we help refugees who are fleeing violence and persecution. We know that there is hate and we know that more must be done about it. One thing everyone can do is stand up to hate speech. If you hear something, say something.

We look forward to better days ahead and to working alongside you for that future. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and in your hearts.
