Complicit: The Roosevelt Administration's Inadequate Response to the Refugee Crisis
See the award winning documentary, "Complicit: The Untold Story of Why the Roosevelt Administration Denied Safe Haven to Refugees," and stay for a post screening discussion and Q&A. The film explores the refusal of Cuba, the U.S. and Canada to grant safe haven to Jewish refugees on board the SS St. Louis in 1939. The film features interviews with refugees onboard the ill-fated ship, puts FDR "on trial" for his involvement, and shows never-before-seen footage of a U.S. Special Envoys expose of America's inadequate response to the crisis.
Filmmaker Ruth Kalish, who co-produced and co-directed the film will be at the event for a post screening discussion and Q&A. In addition, Jane Ginns from HIAS' Board of Directors will speak about America's current refugee policies and related immigration issues.
Program made possible by the Friends of ChappPAC and a generous grant from UJA Westchester.
