Employment Authorizations and Adjusting Status for Asylees, Refugees and Special Immigrant Juveniles

Training Description: Immigrants seeking asylum and other humanitarian protection are often eligible for additional benefits, including work authorization.  Furthermore, after obtaining legal status, asylees and others may become eligible to adjust status and become Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders).  HIAS clients with pending or approved asylum applications or other visa petitions need assistance preparing these vital forms.  This training will provide an overview of applying for employment authorization and adjustment of status, including preparing the paperwork, collecting additional evidence, identifying potential red flags, and preparing fee waiver requests.
