Get Involved: Refugee Resettlement & Community Sponsorship in the NY Metro Area
Since our previous information session about community sponsorship for refugees in the New York area, the crisis in Afghanistan has unfolded and tens of thousands of people were evacuated from Kabul. We are starting to see the first of these families arriving in New York and the pace will continue to increase in the coming weeks and months.
Congregations and coalitions in and around NYC already play an essential role in supporting refugee families as they integrate into their new communities. Now that arrivals are increasing, HIAS NY is looking for more congregations, organizations, and coalitions to take up the baton and become community sponsors.
Join us on Thursday, October 28 at 1pm ET to find out what’s involved in being a HIAS NY host organization and to get next steps for how your group can participate.
If you attended the July information session, you do not need to attend this program. If you need additional information or would like to begin the application process, please visit hias.org/nyc and click “Congregation and Interfaith Group Volunteer Opportunities” to view the application materials and the HOME program manual. We encourage you to submit the full application and our team will reach out to you directly to follow up once the application is complete.
