National Refugee Shabbat Havdalah
Join IKAR, Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills, Temple Beth Am, and other LA congregations for a special event at the close of National Refugee Shabbat.
The evening will start with a Havdalah celebration. Then, Rabbi Rachel Grant Meyer, Director of Education at HIAS, will teach on the status of the refugee crisis and the Jewish response, and locally-settled former refugees will share their stories. After the speaker program, we will enjoy delicious Syrian fare catered by new arrival chefs, the Kanjo family, and enjoy live music reflecting immigrant nationalities that enrich out community.
Please note that the $15 per person registration fee is to contribute toward the meal prepared by the Kanjo Family, formerly refugees from Syria.
In addition, we encourage you to bring diapers or school and art supplies for locally refugee families supported by the Tiyya Foundation. Or you can order items on Amazon and have them delivered directly to Tiyya from their Amazon wishlists.
Please RSVP in advance so we can ensure enough food for everyone.
This is a National Refugee Shabbat event.
