Naturalization 201: Preparing for the Interview and Other Advanced Topics

United States

Please register in advance here.  You must be registered to receive the webinar information.

Event Description

U.S. citizenship is the final step in the U.S. immigration journey for many HIAS clients.  Refugees and asylees generally become eligible for U.S. citizenship once they have accrued five years as Lawful Permanent Residents.  The process to apply for U.S. citizenship can be challenging to navigate alone.  A person's immigration history, travel history, or criminal history may lead to complications.  Furthermore, applicants must pass a civics exam, and be able to read, write, and understand basic English.  Join HIAS' Pro Bono and Partnerships Team for a legal training to learn the ins and outs of applying for Naturalization, including tips to help prepare your client for the Naturalization interview and potential red flags.  This training will be offered free of charge.  A recorded version of this training will be available on a later date. Many thanks to Fredrikson & Byron for their sponsorship of this training!
