Event Description

There are more refugees and displaced persons in the world today than at any time since World War II. Conflict and persecution are driving millions from their homes, leaving them stateless and vulnerable. In the U.S., recent backlash is threatening America’s legacy as a country that welcomes refugees. Guided by Jewish values and history, HIAS works around the world to protect those refugees who have been forced to flee their homelands because of who they are, including ethnic, religious and sexual minorities. Join Rabbi Rachel Grant Meyer, educator at HIAS, to learn more about the current refugee crisis and to explore how Jewish text, values and history call on us to respond.
