Refugees in America: Stories of Courage, Resilience, and Hope in Their Own Words

Lee Bycel’s new book, Refugees in America, gives voice to the real people at the center of the immigration debate by focusing on the stories of individuals from different countries—from a 93-year-old Polish grandmother who came to the United States after surviving Auschwitz, to a young undocumented immigrant from El Salvador who became an American college graduate, despite being born impoverished and blind. Bycel’s insights provide historical context for the moving first-person accounts that tell the story of human resilience, suffering, and determination.
