HIAS is excited about the continuation of our webinar training series for attorneys. These trainings are offered several times a year on a variety of topics related to immigration law. The next training in the series, Advanced Asylum Part I: Special Considerations for LGBTQ Cases, is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17 from 3:00-4:30PM ET and will be offered free of charge, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP. HIAS also extends a huge thank you to Connor Cory, Esq., who will be presenting.
We will provide a brief refresher of the elements of asylum, review major LGBTQ asylum cases, and take an in-depth look at pursuing asylum claims based on sexual orientation and gender identity. We will also discuss common issues that arise in LGBTQ asylum cases, as well as ways to bring cultural humility to your representation of LGBTQ clients. We will conclude with a brief overview of anticipated consequences of the 2020 Presidential election outcome. A recorded version of this training will be available on a later date.
