HIAS is excited to announce that we are launching a new webinar training series for attorneys. These trainings will be offered several times a year on a variety of new topics related to the representation of refugees, asylum seekers, and other forcibly displaced populations. The first training in the series, Defending Refugees and Asylum Seekers in the Trump Era: Introduction to Refugee and Asylum Law, will be offered free of charge. This training will provide an overview of refugee and asylee processing, discuss recent policy changes that impact the ability of people to seek refugee and asylee status, and look at HIAS’ efforts to continue to support refugees and asylum seekers given these challenges. We will also provide updates on the COVID-19 crisis and the impact it has had on the populations HIAS serves.
Please stay tuned for information about the second part of this series, Defending Refugees and Asylum Seekers in the Trump Era, Part II: Advocacy at the U.S./Mexico Border.
