Event Description

Join HIAS and the Holocaust Museum LA for the Welcome to Paradise: Refugees at Home in LA program series. Hear the inspiring stories of refugees who we welcomed to America and now give so much back to our country and, especially, the City of Angels. These individual experiences inform why we must continue the fight to welcome the stranger by taking action to sustain and expand our current refugee and asylum resettlement programs.

On January 13, you’ll have the chance to hear from Henry Slucki, a Holocaust survivor who recently retired as Professor of Behavioral Sciences at USC. After enduring an arduous escape from Nazi-occupied France, Henry’s parents sent him to the United States alone as part of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s initiative to save refugee children.
