High Holiday Resources on the Syrian Refugee Crisis
Responding to many requests for assistance gathering materials in advance of the High Holidays that address the global refugee crisis in general and the Syrian refugee crisis in particular, we have created two resources for clergy and congregations.
The first is a liturgical call to action that can be read from the bima during Yom Kippur services. As you will see when you open the document, you are invited to sound the shofar in recognition of the world’s refugees one more time at the conclusion of the reading, though the reading itself works as a stand-alone piece.
The second resource is a guide to the refugee crisis that we encourage you to hand out to your congregants. It is two pages and meant to be printed double-sided. On one side there is a quick guide to the Syrian refugee crisis with answers to 5 key questions, and on the other side there are 3 immediate action steps people can take to help.
We hope you find these materials meaningful and relevant and that you will use them and share them with others.
