Economic Inclusion

One of the most important opportunities for refugees is to earn a living and achieve sustainable livelihoods that will allow them to contribute to the economic and social development of their host communities. HIAS' economic inclusion programs ensure that refugees have safe economic opportunities to earn sustainable income and rebuild their lives in dignity. Our programs are market-oriented, protection-focused, and concentrate on economic empowerment of all refugees, including LGBTQ refugees, young women, and survivors of gender-based violence.

Strategies

  • Poverty alleviation
  • Entrepreneurship support
  • Wage employment support
  • Financial inclusion
  • Emergency response

HIAS has economic inclusion programs operating in Aruba, Chad, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guyana, Israel, Kenya, Panamá, Perú, the U.S., and Venezuela.
