Liz Sweet, Esq.
Chief of Staff
Liz Sweet currently serves as Chief of Staff for HIAS. In this role, she leads HIAS’s strategic and tactical legal initiatives while overseeing its global human resources policies and operations. Liz has designed programs and managed staff in the implementation of a range of programs serving immigrants and refugees.
Prior to her work at HIAS, she worked at Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services where she directed the Access to Justice program and managed pilot alternative to detention initiatives. Her work history includes the development of pro bono immigration legal services programs both with HIAS and at the American Bar Association. Her experience includes representation of individual vulnerable immigrants in a range of matters as well as shaping organizations’ roles in systemic litigation and policy work.
Liz speaks Spanish and received her BA from the School for International Training and her JD from Northeastern University.
