Merrill Zack is the Vice President for Community Engagement at HIAS. She and her team educate, organize and mobilize the American Jewish community to act in support of refugees and asylum seekers. Merrill has worked at the intersection of Jewish values and action for a more just world for more than twenty years, including long tenures at American Jewish World Service and National Council of Jewish Women. She holds a BA in religion and anthropology from Kenyon College and an MPA in nonprofit management and public policy for New York University.Merrill Zack is the Vice President of Community Engagement work within the Public Affairs division at HIAS. In this role, Merrill creates strategic partnerships, educational and volunteer opportunities, and public events that energize and prepare the American Jewish community to act in support of refugees.

For two decades, Merrill has worked at the intersection of Jewish values and action for a more just world, at organizations such as American Jewish World Service, the National Council of Jewish Women and the New Israel Fund.

She holds a BA in Religion from Kenyon College and an MPA in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy from New York University. Merrill lives with her family in Brooklyn, New York.
